Resolve Conform Station
This is a time-saving, resource-maximizing solution for digital intermediate workflows. Conforming, proxy generating and QC processes can be taken out of the expensive DI suite and done in a far less expensive environment, at a fully integrated parallel workstation. For DI facilities working in high-resolution projects, the Resolve Conform Station can quickly generate quality lower resolution (proxy) files using da Vinci’s exclusive Transformer technology.
A low-cost device used to control a telecine’s transport and color parameters, and ideally suited for a dailies environment. The Telecine Pre-Programmer leverages the telecine’s own color capabilities.
Resolve Digital Mastering Suite
Demonstrating on two Resolve RT workstations, each presentation focuses on a specific workflow—either short-form (commercial) or long-form (feature film). Resolve configurations now include six-vector secondary correction and support for external mattes to quickly isolate regions or colors for selective processing. Resolve’s new PowerMastering feature provides real-time generation of multiple deliverables from a color-corrected 2K resolution master without rendering back to storage, each with uniquely applied color and sizing settings.
Resolve now supports 2K to Resolve Grading Exchange, a functionality allowing colorists to import basic da Vinci 2K grades and color decisions directly into Resolve. Grading Exchange capabilities enable color decisions made during dailies to be easily transferred to Resolve, thereby providing the dailies’ grade as a starting point in the DI suite.
da Vinci offers the second-generation version that enables da Vinci 2K/2K Plus users to bridge their existing color correction equipment investment into nonlinear processing. Splice will be on display and operating concurrently with the da Vinci 2K Plus. In version 2.0, Splice adds a Program Record Function, allowing users to control Splice as a recorder while also controlling a telecine from the da Vinci 2K. Version 2.0 also offers interactive drag-and-drop editing functionalities, letting users build timelines in any order desired. A new Ingest Mode allows for the capturing of material directly from a telecine without an external controller.
da Vinci 2K Plus
At NAB2007, the company will highlight an enhanced toolset for the da Vinci 2K Plus. Demonstrations will showcase the da Vinci 2K Plus in both linear and nonlinear applications, providing the highest workflow flexibility.
Of special interest to commercial facilities, the da Vinci 2K Plus demonstrations will include the application of ColorTrace to provide dynamically sized handles for supporting spot work needing generation of multiple versions. The inclusion of dynamic handles eliminates redundancy in playout and greatly simplifies output of commercial deliverables. Combined with the latest version of ColorTrace, the system now supports a session merge function for reel rebalancing and extended reconform functions.
In 2007 da Vinci continues its standard of integrating the 2K Plus with other manufacturers’ products. The da Vinci 2K Plus now supports 2048 x 1080 10-bit and 12-bit RGB projection standards used in today’s DI environments. In addition, the da Vinci 2K Plus now offers enhanced support for the latest Grass Valley Spirit 2K and Spirit 4K telecines and additional support for the Cintel Image Mill “Steady” image stabilization function.
da Vinci’s Revival image restoration system gets new high-speed processing hardware and a full 2k-resolution GUI display for highlighting features of the recently released Revival v 4.6 software.
Demonstrations include the new Dirt Matte feature that supports Arriscan files combined with Kodak Digital Ice technology, which greatly improves the accuracy of detected and remedied film and scanning defects during the restoration process. Revival’s Dirt Matte tool interprets information embedded in the scanned files to isolate and automatically remove dirt from new or archival images. The automatic process is so complete that it requires no frame-by-frame analysis.
Newly released Region of Interest (ROI) batch processing is now available, giving users the ability to perform a restoration task across multiple frames rather than simple frame-by-frame editing. ROI repair quality has also been enhanced with a new blending tool.
Revival’s flexible licensing represents substantial cost-savings to facilities by allowing shared processing and tools between multiple workstations. In addition, significantly improved and user-friendly disk and file I/O systems have been added for increased speed and efficiency, as well as support and connectivity of network file systems storage.
