The new agreement extends carriage of the Bounce, Escape, Grit and Laff multicast networks through 2024. In addition, Univision will add Bounce in Washington on Sept. 30.
Univision Communications Inc., which owns and/or operates 60 television stations in major U.S. markets and Puerto Rico, has renewed network distribution agreements with Katz Communications multicast networks Bounce, Escape, Grit and Laff through 2024.
UCI carries Bounce, Escape, Grit and Laff in various combinations in multiple markets on its stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, San Francisco, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa-St. Petersburg, Phoenix, Denver, Orlando, Sacramento and 10 other DMAs.
In addition, Univision will launch Bounce on its station in Washington (DMA 7) on Sept. 30. Bounce will be seen on WFDC on ch. 14.2, Comcast ch. 207 and Verizon FiOS ch. 459.
“The Katz-owned content we broadcast on our stations have proven valuable to our viewers and advertisers, and demonstrates an efficient use of our broadcast spectrum,” said John Eck, chief local media officer of UCI. “We are pleased to expand our relationship, which allows us to further serve multicultural audiences. With this renewed agreement, we are especially looking forward to becoming the new Bounce affiliate in our nation’s capital.”
“The long-term and mutually-beneficial partnerships the Katz networks have developed with strong station groups like Univision are part of our motivation to acquire the company,” said Brian Lawlor, SVP, broadcast, for the E.W. Scripps Co., which is purchasing the Katz Broadcasting networks in a deal expected to close on Oct. 2.
The Univision agreement was negotiated by Katz Chief Distribution Officer Jeffrey Wolf.
