Robert C. Johnson, president of Sundance Digital Inc., announced the addition of Ty Atherholt as Director of Sales, Northeast Region, as well as several promotions within the company. In addition, he announced that Emerson Ray, Rick Stora, and Scott Blair have advanced to higher levels within the organization.
Atherholt comes to Sundance Digital with a background in broadcast technology spanning a quarter century. His responsibilities include sales and customer relationship management for the newly created region stretching from Michigan to New England and south to the Washington, D.C., area.
“We appreciate and welcome Ty’s long-lasting relationships within the broadcast community,” said Johnson. “His fresh approach to the automation marketplace mirrors Sundance Digital’s drive to always provide the most innovative and advanced solutions possible.”
Atherholt comes to Sundance following an eight-year tenure with Fuji Photo Film USA where he rose from senior account representative to Northeast Zone director of sales responsible for $46 million in distribution sales. He previously served 10 years as district sales manager/professional media at Sony Recording Media Products Group, and held sales positions in other professional video companies.
Atherholt assumes a significant share of Emerson Ray’s territory as the Sundance veteran transitions from director of sales, eastern region, a position he has held since 2001, todirector of strategic account sales, a newly created position.
Ray’s career comprises over 40 years in television engineering and sales. “Emerson’s experience in broadcast equipment sales, especially automation systems, has been an enormous benefit to our customers,” stated Johnson. “He has grown our Eastern region significantly and we look forward to sharing his expertise with our key account level clients.”
In addition, Rick Stora has been promoted to director of product development from director of broadcast operations. Stora’s 26-plus years of experience at the station and corporate group level have thoroughly prepared him to successfully manage Sundance Digital’s software team and supervise the design of the company’s technologically advanced broadcast automation solutions. Stora also develops and writes customized traffic interface software that enhances overall connectivity, interoperability and workflow.
Scott Blair has moved from product specialist to product manager, news automation, with responsibility to direct the growth of NewsLink. Blair will manage the product’s commissioning and training, while continuing to perform market research, feature development, and oversee pre- and post-sales support.
Prior to joining Sundance Digital in May 2005, Blair served as centralcasting director for Emmis Television’s five-station hub in Lake Mary, Fla. Prior to Emmis, Blair spent 10 years at KHQ-TV, the NBC affiliate in Spokane, Wash., where he managed operations, communications and projects.
