WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

The Verdict’s In: Court Shows Rule

Leading the first-run syndication chart despite being entirely in reruns, perennially high-rated Judge Judy grew 2% from the prior frame to a four-week high 6.3 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating. Also posting gains in the week ending July22 were fellow gavelers Hot Bench and People’s Court.

Here come the judges. The top three court shows lit up Nielsen chart in the session ending July 22. However, almost everything else in daytime first-run syndication was flat to down, thanks in part to preemptions for coverage of the Helsinki summit and its aftermath.

Leading the chart despite being entirely in reruns, perennially high-rated Judge Judy grew 2% from the prior frame to a four-week high 6.3 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating and tied access game show kingpin Family Feud as syndication’s No. 1 program.

Hot Bench, which was created by Judy, jumped 11% to a five-week high 2.1, even though it was mostly in repeats and ranked as the No. 3 show in daytime. And People’s Court rose 8% to a four-week high 1.4.

Elsewhere in daytime, Dr. Phil aired encore episodes all week and gave back 7% to a 2.6, but still finished first in talk for the 98th week in a row.

Live with Kelly and Ryan came closest to Phil with a 1.9, down 5% although it climbed 13% in the key women 25-54 demo.

Ellen DeGeneres was third with a flat 1.6, and further down the list, Dr. Oz was the sole ratings gainer among talkers, recovering 11% to a 1.0 and landing in a three-way tie for seventh place.
