Bruce Cummings Named KIII GM

The Tegna VP also oversees the groups other seven stations in Texas. He succeeds the retiring Dan Robbins.

Tegna-owned ABC affiliate KIII Corpus Christi, Texas (DMA 127) today announced that  Bruce Cummings, vice president at Tegna, will expand his role and become president and general manager of KIII in Corpus Christi, Texas (DMA 127). He succeeds Dan Robbins who announced his intention to retire at the end of the year.

Cummings currently oversees several of Tegna’s Texas stations including KBMT and KJAC in Beaumont, where he was president-GM; KCEN Waco-Temple; KAGS Bryan-College Station; KYTX Tyler; KIDY San Angelo; and KXVA Abilene.

“For more than two decades, Bruce has led stations by promoting an audience-first approach and commitment to community,” said Peter Diaz, Tegna’s EVP of media operations. “He will continue to do that in Corpus Christi and build on KIII’s already strong position in the community,”

Cummings became president-GM of KBMT in 2012 and was named VP at Tegna, overseeing several stations, in 2017. Before joining KBMT, Cummings spent more than 20 years at KULR Billings, Mont., including the last 15 as general manager. Cummings has also held several sales positions.

Cummings attended Casper College in Casper, Wyo.
