Iowa Broadcasters Honor Citadel’s Cole

The president-COO of Citadel Communications is named Broadcaster of the Year by the Iowa Broadcasters Association.

Raymond H. “Ray” Cole, president and chief operating officer of Citadel Communications Company, has been named Iowa Broadcaster of the Year by the Iowa Broadcasters Association (IBA).

The award, presented at IBA’s annual meeting in Des Moines on Thursday, June 12, is given annually to a broadcaster who has provided “exceptional leadership and service to his/her station(s) and community while exemplifying integrity, a strong sense of community and work ethic.”

A 30-year broadcasting veteran, Cole is responsible for the oversight of Citadel’s group of television stations: WOI (ABC) Des Moines, Iowa; KLKN (ABC) Lincoln, Neb.; KCAU (ABC) Sioux City, Iowa; and WHBF (CBS) Rock Island, Ill.

Cole is also chairman of the board of governors of ABC Affiliates and serves on the board of directors of the National Association of Broadcasters. He is also a member of the Nielsen Media Research Client Advisory Committee.
