The Fox O&O duopoly in Los Angeles is moving Jim Kauffman from Phoenix to become its new VP of engineering and operations.
Jim Kauffman has been named vice president of engineering and operations for Fox’s duopoly in Los Angeles of KTTV (Fox) and KCOP (MNT). Effective Aug. 24, Kauffman will be responsible for oversight and management of the stations’ engineering operations and production facilities.
Kauffman has held a number of roles within the Fox Television Stations (FTS), serving for 12 years as vice president of engineering and operations for the group’s Phoenix duopoly of KSAZ (Fox) and KUTP (MNT) and before that, two years as vice president of engineering and operations for KTBC Austin, Texas.
Prior to this, he spent a year leading the transition team for KDFI Dallas following its purchase by Fox.
Before joining the Fox O&O group, Kauffman spent nearly four years with Dallas Media Investors’ KDFI, first as maintenance supervisor and later as their chief engineer. Earlier in his career, he was a maintenance engineer at KERA Dallas.
A graduate of the University of Iowa, Kauffman holds a bachelor’s degree in communications as well as a Professional Broadcast Engineer certification from the Society of Broadcast Engineers.
