After many decades at Mexican TV giant Televisa, Alberto Ciurana is coming back to Univision Networks. He’ll oversee programming for all of the company’s broadcast and cable networks.
Univision has turned to its main programming partner, Mexico’s Televisa, to provide its new president of programming and content. Alberto Ciurana will be heading from Mexico City to Miami to oversee programming for all of Univision Networks, both broadcast and cable.
Ciurana, who will report to Cesar Conde, president of Univision Networks, brings more than 34 years of experience in programming and entertainment to the post. Most recently he served as head of programming at Televisa for 15 years. Prior to that he oversaw international operations at Televisa, expanding the company’s brand and reach around the world from a base in London.
The Hispanic TV veteran is no stranger to Univision, having worked there early in his career. He began his career in television working as a producer for the weekly variety show “Siempre en Domingo.”
The addition of Ciurana makes some changes in the programming hierarchy at Univision. The company says Luis Fernandez will serve as president of Univision Studios, reporting to Conde. Jessica Rodriguez, executive vice president of Program Scheduling and Promotions, will report to Ciurana.
