Janet Hundley resigned Friday after more than 12 years as assistant news director at ABC-owned WLS Chicago to become news director of WTMJ, the NBC affiliate in Milwaukee. Hundley’s exit closely follows the resignation of Richard Maginn, executive producer of WLS’s 10 p.m. weekday newscast and a 19-year veteran of the station. Both departures are effective at the end of the May ratings sweeps. No word on replacements.

WTVA Tupelo Evacuated On Live TV
The Tupelo, Miss., NBC affiliate was evacuated as an apparent tornado bore down on the city Monday afternoon and the tense seconds leading up to the evacuation were broadcast out to the station’s viewers. WTVA Chief Meteorologist Matt Laubhan was in the studio as major storms approached Tupelo. During his broadcast, Laubhan switched to the station’s tower camera, which showed an ominous cloud approaching the city. He immediately ordered the station’s staff to head to the basement before following behind them.
WXIN Adds 7 And 11 P.M. Newscasts
The Indianapolis Fox affiliate will compete head-to-head with WTHR, WISH and WRTV. The new 11 o’clock broadcast will be anchored by Nicole Pence and will bring the station’s weekly news total to 66 hours per week.
