The Democratic National Committee has decided to exclude Fox News Channel from televising any of its candidate debates during the 2019-2020 cycle as a result of published revelations detailing the cable network’s close ties to the Trump administration.

CNN is asking 40 times its normal rate for commercial time in the next Republican debate. The cable news network is charging as much as $200,000 for a 30-second spot in the primetime brawl taking place on Sept. 16, according to a media buyer. This is on par with the cost of buying commercial time in some broadcast primetime series.
CNN announced on Tuesday that it has changed the criteria for its upcoming debate, making space for Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina on the primetime stage. The proverbial elephant of the GOP primary season, Donald Trump, won’t be in the room on Monday night as most of his rivals answer questions at a Republican presidential forum in New Hampshire. Trump’s absence is the result of his annoyance with the sponsor and could make the New Hampshire event significantly different from the GOP debate being sponsored by Fox News later this week where Trump will be center stage.
Fox News is opening its 5 p.m. debate to all the announced Republican candidates who fail to make the cut for the Aug. 6 primetime event (at 9 p.m.), removing a requirement that participants reach at least 1% in polling. The change serves to guarantee the presence of candidates such as Lindsey Graham and Carly Fiorina.
