Wilson came to the West Palm Beach, Fla., NBC affil from KNXV Phoenix, where he had been assistant news director since 2008.

The classic TV diginet now is cleared in 91% of the U.S. with 160 affiliates.

The ratings services adds Scripps’ ABC affiliates in Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit and West Palm Beach, Fla. The expansion makes Cleveland the first top-20 market to have all major TV affiliates subscribing to Rentrak’s local ratings.

Mike Murri and Lloyd Bucher will take handle day-to-day operations as the station’s GMs take on more responsibilities as Scripps regional general managers.

For outsiders, West Palm Beach conjures up images of palm trees and retirees, but the Florida city has a fiercely competitive online scene, with TV stations among the major players. The competition could heat up even further later this year when local daily The Palm Beach Post erects its paywall.

The Scripps West Palm Beach operation brings in the former news director of Gannett’s Jacksonville duo to succeed Jeff Brogan.

The latest addition to the agreement between the Scripps and Raycom stations in West Palm Beach, Fla., has WPTV producing the market’s only 4 o’clock news for WFLX.

Beginning Jan. 1 the Scripps NBC affil in West Palm Beach, Fla., will take over news production for Raycom’s Fox outlet. It will also farm out sports coverage to WEFL-AM, which already does the same for WPTV.

The Scripps-owned ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla., is joining with the Palm Beach Post. The station will feature a front-page story from paper during the 11 p.m. news and also during morning news shows and on WPTV-produced news on WFLX. The Post will feature WPTV video on its website, and the Post‘s print and online weather page will feature forecasts from Steve Weagle, WPTV’s chief meteorologist.
