Weather storytelling leaders to demo the power of augmented reality

Set for Thursday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. ET, “The New Weather Storytelling with Augmented Reality” webinar will feature meteorologist, talent coach and consultant Tim Heller, who was one of the first broadcast meteorologists to incorporate AR into his daily weathercasts while working at Disney ABC’s KTRK Houston. As founder of HellerWeather, he trains meteorologists to become the “go-to” source for weather in their markets, by telling stories — often enhanced with AR — and creating captivating, informative graphics that viewers can’t get elsewhere.

Univision Network’s Albert Martinez

Joining Heller on the webinar will be Albert Martinez, chief meteorologist at Univision Network, who appears weekdays on the network’s morning, mid-day and evening newscasts and uses immersive augmented reality to better explain stories about wildfires, hurricanes and other weather phenomena. Martinez will show examples of his work and talk about how he creates AR scenes, often with existing resources and without help from a graphics team.

Heller and Martinez will outline a strategy for using AR to differentiate weather reporting and provide a demonstration of how to effectively create AR scenes.

The Weather Company’s Mike Convey

Appearing with them during the webinar will be Mike Convey, Offering Manager for Max Weather and Traffic at The Weather Company, who will share his perspectives and knowledge of the company’s platform and AR tools.

Kathy Haley, co-founder and publisher of NewsCheckMedia LLC, will moderate the conversation.
