Cox Media Group And Action News Jax Launch Action Sports Jax 24/7 Jacksonville Streaming Sports Channel

Cox Media Group and Action News Jax today launched Action Sports Jax 24/7, the first streaming sports channel of its kind in the market.

Action Sports Jax 24/7 debuted on Action News Jax Now app, the WJAX-WFOX Jacksonville streaming platform, featuring the Brent and Austen show airing live each weekday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET.

Co-hosted by former Jags player Austen Lane and Brent Martineau, sports director for Action News Jax, Action Sports Jax 24/7 will focus on the Jacksonville Jaguars, the upcoming NFL draft, and all other local professional, college, and high school sports. The inaugural show featured breaking news with an exclusive interview of the owner of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, discussing plans for an expansion and modernization of the baseball grounds.

“We want to help drive the local sports conversation” said Bob Longo, VP and general manager of WJAX and WFOX. “Jacksonville is a great sports town, and there’s tremendous excitement over the Jaguars recent success and potential championship caliber team. This first-of-its-kind local streaming channel reaffirms our status as the top source for all things Jags and local sports – both inside our newscasts, our broadcast specials on CBS47 and FOX30, and now on our 24/7 streaming channel.”

Produced locally in a new streaming sports studio within the stations’ facilities, Action Sports Jax 24/7 promises “in-depth interviews, discussions, and highlights that go beyond what is typically covered in on-air sportscasts.”

“It’s exciting to see it all come together,” says Sports Director Brent Martineau. “We already cover all things Jags and produce so much content that doesn’t make it into a normal on-air sportscast, so this streaming channel gives us the opportunity to go deep on interviews, discussions and highlights. It’s something unique and has value to local sports and Jags fans.”
