A global pandemic, one of the most widespread protest movements in U.S. history and a contentious presidential election season put local TV broadcasters at the center of a newsgathering storm in 2020.

To talk about what they learned, and assess their competitiveness in a changing news environment, a group of local TV leaders will gather for a TVNewsCheck Working Lunch Webinar, Managing the Never-Ending News Cycle in a Changing Media Environment.

Set for Thursday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. ET, the webinar will address:

  • How local TV executives and managers are contending with the non-stop news cycle in a year when streaming media, apps, smart speakers, podcasting and other distribution platforms are fragmenting traditional TV news audiences;
  • How they are capitalizing on a year when audience interest in news – local and national – is significantly higher than in recent years;
  • How well technology is doing at helping news teams produce more content for more platforms.

Joining the webinar as speakers will be:

Lew Leone, SVP and general manager of Fox Television Stations’ WNYW-WWOR New York; Bob Ellis, VP and general manager of Graham Media Group’s WJXT-WCWJ Jacksonville, Fla.;  James Finch, director of news services, Gray Media Group; Craig Wilson, product evangelist for broadcast and media enterprise at Avid; and Paul Adrian, CEO and co-founder of Latakoo.

Glen Dickson, contributing editor of TVNewsCheck, will moderate the webinar.

Let me get this straight. They are saying Americans want more of the vapid news offerings where the first block (thats the first 10 minutes for you democrats) is nothing but a hyped horror show, vapid reporting and untimely weather forecasts are what America wants??? I live in Florida and this guys Ellis’s newscast is the worst..”It’s watch us because we do news not that we do good news.”.What a joke..Shows you how big the bubble is they live in ….
