WNBC To Debut ‘News 4 Now’ OTT Digicast

Beginning April 5, the 10-minute weekday digicast exclusively for Roku, Apple TV and streaming audiences will feature local and national headlines, the latest weather, in-depth reporting and entertainment and lifestyle programming.

NBCU-owned WNBC New York will launch an original, 10-minute weekday digicast starting Monday, April 5, exclusively for OTT consumers. News 4 Now will be accessible at 4 p.m. on NBC 4 New York’s Roku and Apple TV channels, and through the NBC 4 App.

Ben Berkowitz, WNBC vice president of digital, said: “We created the new digicast with WNBC’s growing OTT audience in mind. Led by the team that the Tri-State knows and trusts, News 4 Now will include everything our viewers need to know to stay on the go,” said

News 4 Now will feature local and national headlines, the latest weather, in-depth reporting and entertainment and lifestyle programming. It will include regular appearances from the station’s award-winning anchors, reporters and hosts. It will be written by the WNBC broadcast newsroom and produced and edited by WNBC’s digital team, featuring a relaxed format, upbeat tempo and custom graphics.

The new digicast further expands WNBC’s already diverse digital viewing options such as nbcnewyork.com and several social media channels including YouTubeFacebook and Twitter.  In 2020, the Local Media Association presented WNBC with the Local Media Digital Innovation Award for Best Social Media Strategy, recognizing the station’s success in reaching audiences across new and emerging platforms to heighten viewer excitement and engagement.
