3 TV Broadcasters Nab NAB Service Awards
NBC affiliate KING Seattle, PBS station WVIZ Cleveland and Raleigh, N.C.-based Capitol Broadcasting are among the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation’s 2015 Celebration of Service to America Award winners announced Tuesday.
The annual awards are given in recognition of TV and radio broadcasters’ outstanding community service.
KING, an NBC affiliate, will receive the Service to American Television Award for its wide range of community service activities including fundraising, supporting local non-profits and providing coverage of disasters such as the Oso Landslide, the NAB says.
Noncommercial WVIZ is being recognized for its role in creating a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing Cleveland schools’ dropout rate, the second worst in the country.
Capitol Broadcasting, which owns Raleigh stations WRAL and WRAZ, is being honored for its work on a domestic violence initiative called “eNOugh NC.”
Winners will be honored at the Celebration of Service to America dinner, held Tuesday, June 16 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
