The Graham Media-owned stations have issued press releases saying they are scheduled to be pulled from the satellite service on July 22 unless a carriage deal can be reached.
Dish Customers May Lose Graham Stations
Graham Media’s television stations — WDIV Detroit; KPRC Houston; WKMG Orlando, Fla.; KSAT San Antonio, Texas; and WJXT Jacksonville, Fla. — are about to go dark for all Dish Network subscribers, according to announcements made by each of the stations.
Graham Media says “the satellite provider has been unwilling to strike a reasonable [retrans] deal. “We’ve been working very hard to negotiate a fair deal for everybody. We’ve negotiated dozens, if not hundreds, of similar deals over the years with other providers and have never been taken off the air, so that should tell you something about where the issue lies.”
The stations have launched the website www.savemychannel.com that includes shareable social media posts, as well as alternative ways to continue watching the stations’ content while the negotiations continue.
Apparently, there’s another station involved. WPLG Miami, which Berkshire Hathaway purchased last year from Graham predecessor Post-Newsweek Stations, is also included on the SaveMyStation website.
