Univision has come to terms with virtual MVPD provider FuboTV on a broadcast retransmission deal, ending an impasse that threatened to black out channels including the flagship Univision, UniMas, Galavision and TUDN.
Scoring strong upfront ad market revenue results, Spanish-language media group, TelevisaUnivision posted “double-digit” volume growth, according to a media executive close to the company — its best result in seven years. The media company posted “high single digit” cost-per-thousand viewer increases versus the upfront market of a year ago. A TelevisaUnivision representative had no comment with regard to the upfront negotiations.
CMG adds Telemundo affiliates in Jacksonville, Fla., and Seattle and also renews its contract with the Hispanic network in Charlotte, N.C.
Gray Television Buying LPTVs To Expand Into Spanish-Language TV

TelevisaUnivision is getting more entrenched in TV’s measurement wars. The Spanish-language media giant is teaming up with data company VideoAmp, one of a growing number of audience-measurement companies whose services are being tapped as TV networks mull alternatives to Nielsen, the industry’s de factor arbiter of audience size. Under terms of the pact, TelevisaUnivision will use VideoAmp’s data in a suite of advanced advertising solutions, giving advertisers a better sense of the viewers they are reaching and their responses to commercials.

YouTube TV now offers a streaming plan featuring only Spanish-language channels and is also beefing up the lineup of Spanish-language content with a new add-on for the virtual MVPD’s base package. The new option, called Spanish Plan, costs $34.99 per month (with an intro rate of $24.99 per month for the first six) and features 28 channels in Spanish.

Spanish-language media giant Univision has agreed to license the ad industry’s Ad-ID advertising assets coding system to identify, track and “significantly improve targeting and delivery” for ads aimed at its Hispanic viewers. The deal follows NBC Universal’s agreement announced last summer, and provides new impetus for the advertising asset management system jointly owned by the American Association of Advertising Agencies and the Association of National Advertisers.

Nielsen said it has launched a Diverse Media Equity Program, which is designed to highlight minority-owned media companies to advertisers and media buyers. Canela Media, a Latina-owned media company, was part of a pilot initiative and the number of campaigns it had that were measured by Nielsen tripled.
