In 2013, Bahakel Communications’ WCCB Charlotte, N.C., lost its Fox affiliation when Fox bought WJZY there. KHOU To Air Mayoral Debate On Oct. 17
The station’s collaboration with Houston Public Media and Free Press Houston aims to engage young voters. Seven candidates will be on hand for the live broadcast two days before early voting opens up to Texans.
The live, half-hour debate will air on Media General’s CW affiliate Friday, Oct. 16, at 6:30 to 7 p.m. from the WISH studios.

The strike by 65 camera operators and broadcast technicians at NBC-owned WCAU Philadelphia is heating up. The station is looking to hire replacement workers and has posted the positions of strikers on job sites.
The media titan, appearing today on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street: “All TV news, other than local news, is irrelevant,” said Diller. “People watch local. I’ve always thought the last one standing is a local television station. I think they’re going on forever. They are the ones organized to deal with their local community. Like many stations, Tegna-owned WUSA Washington airs regular features in its newscasts about medical and health topics. And when it does, WUSA tends to turn to one source: the Inova hospital chain. Inova has another role in the CBS affiliate’s Family Health features: It’s the sole sponsor of them. The segments raise a question that has dogged the relationship between health-care organizations and TV stations for years: Should such feature stories be called news reports or advertising — or an ill-defined hybrid of both?
