Decades Diginet Debuts In Houston, Phoenix

The multicast network from CBS Television Station Group and Weigel Broadcasting now covers 49% of the U.S. with clearances in 39 markets.

Decades, the new network from the CBS Television Station Group and Weigel Broadcasting Co., has signed new affiliations in Houston (DMA 10) and Phoenix (DMA 12). Decades launched on Thursday, Oct. 1, on Nexstar’s KASW Phoenix (ch. 61.2). And on Saturday, Oct. 3, it makes its debut on Fox Television Station’s KTXH Houston (ch. 20.3).

Decades combines history, news, entertainment and original programming in a daily time capsule, all in context, built around an event, era or theme. To create a different schedule of programming each day, Decades combines historical CBS News elements, Entertainment Tonight magazine footage and Weigel’s entertainment programming library.

Decades is home to the daily original one-hour series Through the Decades hosted and anchored by Peabody Award winning journalist Bill Kurtis. On weekends, the network presents The Decades Binge, featuring continuous episodes of television favorites. Decades delivers a completely different schedule every day.

“Adding stations from the Fox and Nexstar groups to DECADES’ growing affiliate body is terrific,” said Neal Sabin, Weigel vice chairman. “These are station operators whose participation we value and appreciate.”

DECADES is now cleared on 38 markets representing 49% of the United States, including stations belonging to the CBS Television Station Group, Dispatch Broadcasting, Bonten Media Group, Cox Media Group, Schurz Communications, Gray Television, Quincy Broadcasting and Sinclair Broadcast Group.
