Anticipating FCC authorization of the ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard on Thursday, the consortium of leading station groups is planning to set up experimental 3.0 station next spring to explore service enhancement and business opportunities. The project will also include creatng a “lighthouse” station to continue regular digital service to existing sets. Joining Pearl (Cox Media, E.W. Scripps, Graham, Hearst, Meredith, Nexstar, Raycom and Tegna) in the effort will be Fox, NBCUniversal and Univision.

Fox O&O KSAZ Phoenix reporter Troy Hayden got what the station is calling an exclusive interview with Jodi Arias, minutes after a guilty verdict was read in her murder trial. She talked about the jury’s decision and her desire to receive the death penalty rather than life in prison.
Fox News was covering the high-speed carjacking chase that began about midday Friday using a live helicopter shot from Phoenix affiliate KSAZ. The man driving a copper-colored four-door sedan stopped, ran into the desert and placed a handgun to his head and fired. Fox News anchor Shepard Smith told viewers that the video was supposed to be on a 10-second delay so it could be cut off from airing if something went awry.
The Fox O&O will begin a six-week test run of the behind-the-scenes spinoff beginning June 11 at 3 p.m.
